2019 Locomotive fleet plans
2019’s plans and changes for the loco fleet have arrived.
The new motive power for 2019 has arrived with one DX class for the Toll Rail operations, a new GP38-2 switcher for BNSF and the re-introduction of large locos back to the layout with BNSF’s new SD60M triclops for hauling heavier trains.
More American locos will be checked, repaired, and rebranded in the BNSF paint scheme throughout the year along with more British locos overhauled and added back into the fleet. The decision to reinstate and rebrand these locos has been chosen as it cuts the research time and costs of buying new locos and disposing of the old ones. British Diesels, 67004, 57312, and 20118 are all being overlooked for reinstatement. Each overhaul will involve stripping the paint down to the shell’s plastic, servicing all the mechanical parts then reassembling the loco and giving a new coat of paint.
Future plans also show BR class 56 and 58 locomotives making a comeback to the layout.
